On the gameplay side, New World seems somewhat paradoxical in a way. Your character does not really have an archetype defined at the start of the game or weapons of choice. Each level of mastery brings a talent point to be distributed in a skill tree dedicated to the weapon in question, with what this includes passive and active bonuses.
In a statement, the New World team said that the delay in the release was based mainly on the feedback given. While no specific issues were revealed, the team did say they were using the additional time to smash bugs, improve stability, and ultimately polish the game.
